This has always been like that, afaik. Just enclose your url in<>
brackets and common mail/news-readers will be able to recognize
multilined links/urls.
example:

Also, I can't seem to find the setting "Forward messages as
<inline|attachment>". It's defaulting to attachments, which is also ugly.

I've been over all the options in the UI and can't find any settings to
be able to change either of these behaviors.

In SM 1.1.18 and below typing or copying a link as long as above would not break and would be a continuous line such as above.

I have noticed though SM2 does break it but remains active or if it breaks while typing it does show at destination as one continuous link.
