For all my E-Mail accounts i have:
"View settings for this account" - Server Settings:
[ ] Check for new nessages at startup
[ ] Check for new messages every n minutes
[ ] Automatic download new messages.
[ ] Fetch headers only
[X] Leave messages on server (i used PopTray to remove them)
[ ] For at most n days
[ ] Until I delete them
[X] Empty trash on exit

And i click on the "Get Msgs" button when i need to download them.

Most of the time I want E-mail to auto-open when I select Seamonkey
and to check for new mail every 3 minutes.

Occasionally I want nothing interfering with throughput and want
Seamonkey to turn off checking E-mail when I close the E-mail
window - which would seem to be the most logical outcome of
closing that window.

I am not sure why they force E-mail to keep checking when the
user has closed the E-mail window - it seems backwards.
