How about installing ReminderFox? It's a calendar event extension that
keeps appintment info for you, and reminds you when/how you've defined a
given event.
Once installed, there's a calendar icon available to use in customizing
your tool bars in both Browser and Mail. Create a reminder for someone's
birthday, draft the email and when the reminder pops up, you send the
message. It won't send the email for you, but it will point out your
pending message.
