One thing which might be involved, is a rather new development (especially considering your recent upgrade path), is known to have issues here and there _and_ is dependent on both OS and HW of the machine SM runs on is HW based acceleration of rendering the UI.

So you might try to disable HW acceleration, if it's turned on:
Settings -> Appearance -> Content -> HW acceleration

You can check which graphics driver is in use at the bottom of:
about:support
