Sync mods wanted, either one or the other:-

(First preference)
1. A quick and easy way of suspending or temporarily disabling
SeaMonkey's Sync.

or
2. Disabling the automatic Syncing and make the sync ONLY work when I
click on the customised icon or option under Tools etc. ie. When I want
it to work and not automatically..!

AFAIK there is no general Sync on/off preference. And since the Sync
back-end is maintained by the Firefox developers, SeaMonkey can hardly
just add something to disable it. If you want to have it, your best bet
is to file a bug against Firefox Sync.

Untested: Go to about:config and set services.sync.syncInterval to a
very high number (the value is in milliseconds).

With the Custom Buttons add-on and some JavaScript it should be possible
to turn this into a toggle button. That might not turn off the initial
sync, though.

Hi Jens,

I looked in the about:config and ended up comparing the same settings between FireFox and Seamonkey, using the filter "services.sync.s".

What I found was two settings in Firefox were absent from Seamonkey.
One was the one you suggested and another.
They have been added to Seamonkey and settings (same as fireFox) are:-

services.sync.syncThreshold 300
services.sync.syncInterval 600000

I will try these over the next few days and report back if any problems etc.

Regards,
Robert Traynor (BobT).
