This. Solely.
Basically, release binaries are finished the previous day already (it's
the same for FF and the reason why some media announce release
availabilities early) so that the (FTP) mirrors are have the files in
time. It's only the automatic updates and website changes that are
activated/pushed on release day. That part is a manual process, and as
you explained, we got day jobs (though different release management
members in different time zones).
