Are you composing as HTML or plain text? I'm not seeing any problems with pasting graphical content into HTML, but there's no capacity for graphics in text-only.
For me, I have Seamonkey set to use text-only as a default, and on the occasions that I need rich text or embedded graphics, I sometimes forget to press the shift key when I click on the Compose button, to enable HTML.
