A kind soul once instructed me to hit the <Shift> key at the same
time as the "reply" button (or menu option).
I have not checked if this is still the case, but at the time it
seemed impossible to me to discover this from any menu or GUI
element. A real usability puzzle.
If you hit the little down arrow next to "compose" you will get a
choice between text or html, but no such luck for "reply".
Shift-Reply still works ("Reply" refers to the button on the toolbar).
Of course, this assumes you haven't hidden the toolbar.
You're right that the "Reply" button no longer offers the HTML option. I
wonder when they took that away.
Maybe it's a bug?
