Daylight Saving Time ????

Good idea, but it doesn't explain the discrepancy between Daniel's time
and Daniel's time. Remember, the date/time stamp of the message in
question was "Thu, 4 Oct 2012 14:00:22 -0700 (PDT)," but it displays on
his system as "05/10/12 07:00" despite the +1100 time zone in his own
outgoing messages. The difference between +1100 and -0700 can only be
+18 or -6 hours, and 14+18 or 14-6 modulo 24 can only be 8.

The discrepancy can't be at my end (we just changed over here in the
States), since I'm calculating from his time to his time.

Could it be that he looked at the old message, reported its time display
on his system, then changed to DST afterward? No, because his messages
before and after the query all show time zone +1100.

Paul, on normal time, I am GMT+1000, but on Summer or DST I am GMT+1100, so I'm guessing we had already switched into DST!!
