for it and posts the number here, I might do it...
This isn't solely happening in SeaMonkey though, the behavior in
Thunderbird is the same (although it's a bit harder there to get to the
subscription settings).

I use SeaMonkey but not the mail client. I use Thunderbird 24.7 on
Windows 8 pro and I have no problems seeing the full newsgroup name on
mouse hover over the abbreviated name in my newsgroups lists in the
left side pane under my Identities. I also see the full name if I go to
subscriptions and look at the newsgroups to possibly set them for
offline use. Maybe this got messed up in a later version of TB? I did
upgrade TB some time ago to the version after 24.7 and it was a terrible
version. I reverted to 24.7 and have remained with it. It works fine
for me so why fix something that is not broken?
