HP Pavilion dv7

The as-shipped plus updates W7 home is on one partition.
W7U is on another partition.

The following SMs are on an apps partition. I started using 2.50 a few months ago. I just got 2.48 and am using it now.

User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0 SeaMonkey/2.46
Build identifier: 20161213183751

User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0 SeaMonkey/2.48
Build identifier: 20170707010522

User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/53.0 SeaMonkey/2.50
Build identifier: 20170424091539

The profiles are on a data partition. Mail is in a separate tree on the same data partition as the profiles.

OSs, apps and data structure has been stable for a few years.

*********************************

I mostly use the W7U partition. I took the machine on the road for forty days, and all seemed OK. When I got home the first time I ran SM 2.50 under W7U there was no personal data. Prefs.js had been replaced by three zero files numbered i,2,3, and one basic prefs.js file. Later I noticed other data files were also empty.

I replaced the profile, booted W7 home, and everything was OK. I tried all three of the above SM versions, and if I run any SM version under W7U it trashes the data files.

I have had a file manager open and watched the files being changed. I have a monitor that catches the activity, but most of the files are changed before I can click block.

Whatever is causing this seems to only effect the profile, but is not located in the profile, nor the app, because replacing those has no effect.

Ideas?

Ray

PS: Things like this is a primary reason I have redundant OSs.
