You wrote in the middle of my text:

Nothing I down load is compatible with SM 2.48

May be you are true, but reading
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Calendar/Calendar_Versions#Stable_Releases

shows for lightning 5.3b2 is compatible with SM 2.48
and if you click on it you will go to:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/versions/beta?page=1#version-5.3b2

where we can read (and download):

     Version 5.3b2

<https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/versions/5.3b2>

     Released March 19, 2017 4.8 MiB Works with SeaMonkey 2.48 -
     2.48.*, Thunderbird 51.0 - 51.*

AND for the .vcs support on this page:
https://addons.mozilla.org/EN-US/seamonkey/collections/Siren69/medschooltools/?page=2

we can read (and download):

*Works with SeaMonkey*

Wasn't there some talk, hereabouts, some time ago, that Calendar/Lightning was to become an integral part of SeaMonkey??

I think Chatzilla was also supposed to become inbuilt!!
