Changing the name wouldn't make a difference and might cause other problems. Basically all 2.53 versions are unofficial right now. You
can call them Release, Beta or whatever :) Before I push changes to
the queue Bill picks up I test them but sometimes something just
slips thru and I usually only test on Windows. So if you have a
stable version just tuck it away and if a later one break something
reinstall it and let me know.

Understood, FRG, and thanks to Bill for the work he does in making
"newer" versions of SM available.

I'm just looking at ways to distinguish one (test) version from another (test) version!

(and here am I, still using 2.49.1, worrying about naming practices for much newer versions!! ;-P )
