I've noticed SM using a lot of memory after a few days; restarting it can cut the memory use in half. I do leave it open at night, but the computer is sleeping then. Since so many sites now complain about me using an adblocker, I find I'm using it less and less, so my plan is to keep AdBlocker disabled and see how I like things.

One of the effects of using NoScript is that for a site to complain about using ad blocking, detection requires a script to run. If the script doesn't run, then the site can't throw a complaint at you. Of course, if the scripting host that runs the ad-blocking complaint also runs other essential scripts, then enabling that host will give you the complaint. The same thing applies to EU cookie warnings. And in some cases, auto-play of audio or video content. Script blocking blocks a lot more than just intrusive tracking.

For me, I tend to be aggressive about blocking scripts. Although I will permanently whitelist scripting hosts that I know are necessary to get the content I want, there's a lot where I'm willing to take the work of manually whitelisting temporarily, where I either clear whitelisting when I no longer need it, or when the permissions get reset when I close the browser.

I do make occasional use of a browser profile that doesn't do script or ad blocking -- I keep a profile that I have only minimal tweaks on, as there are occasions where it isn't possible (or at least easy) to try to make temporary exceptions for. This most often relates to sites that have forms, especially purchasing). I'll tolerate default settings for individual transaction. However, I've found that a lot media sites are so heavy on ads that they're nearly unbearable to see. I've heard of people who are on low sugar diets that complain of being sickened if they happen to take in something that's high sugar (such as a soda or candy bar). To me, it's like that with using a browser with unblocked ads.
