We've recently used Eletter for the first time, after seeing it mentioned on the Ebase support list some months ago. (http://www.eletter.com). We sent out 1400 letters, by designing the letter (in Quark Express, then create a PDF, but you can also use MS Word), and exporting the Ebase address data to text, then import to Excel. Uploaded the PDF document file, a PDF of our return address and logo, and the Excel data file. Eletter performed CASS on our addresses, then printed (in full color!) our three page letter, folded it, stuffed it with a window-return envelope in a window envelope, applied metered postage, and mailed it at non-profit bulk rate for us. It cost about the same for use as using a printer and stuffing house, with much less hassle, and we could never have touched full-color at this volume. However, their address processing allows only Name, Institution, Address1, Address2, City/State/Zip lines. In general, we have six -- Name, Bus/Org, Supplemental, Address1, city/state/zip. Virtually every university address in our database requires Supplemental for delivery. The helpful, responsive folks at Eletter say that the Postal Service permits only five lines of address, including name, and they must make room for Addr2. Anyone with mailing experience know how to resolve this issue? We did it, this time, by turning Suppl into Addr2, but that makes for a weird address.
