I've had reasonable success just looking at the zips for our existing
members. Of course, we're a highly localized group, with most of our
members in one county of one state.
An annoyance related to the zip code file is that it insists on having an
entry for county. I'm sure this is useful if one is tracking voters, or
focussing onto small regions for whatever reason. The rest of us can
probably get by filling the county field with X's or any dummy entry, just
to get the zip, city and state into the table.
