OK, so I was not clear. I was focusing on the way ebase opens on a single
user machine or peer to peer network. I assumed it was working as a shared
system. and my answer clearly does not cover opening ebase for FileMaker
server or setting files to share. Let's try again....
Setting the sharing to Multi-user peer-to-peer network whether by the ebase
admin button or using the FileMaker sharing accessed through the file pull
down menu) is the setting of the ability of that file or files to be shared
with a client over a network. The Admin2 "Set to Multi-User" button is
intended to set the share for the various ebase files it as a side effect
has to open them to re-set them so it does provide the effect of opening all
files.
If this is a work around that works for you, you could go from the Home
screen to the FileMaker edit menu - choose Document Preferences and for the
perform script option choose "830-Multi-User" as the auto load script upon
startup rather than "806 - Open" which should be the default.
