Freenet stable build 5034 is now available. If you are running the
stable branch (i.e. unless you know what you are doing), please upgrade.
You can use the update.sh script on *nix, or the freenet-webinstall.exe
on Windows, to upgrade. Or you can fetch the jar from
http://freenetproject.org/snapshots/freenet-latest.jar .

Major changes:
* Include estimators in StoreData and seednodes.
Seednodes: New nodes (that have a recent seednodes file) should get
started on the network, routing well, a lot faster than before.
StoreData: New nodes in a node's routing table (stats suggest most nodes
have a routing table churn of 20-80 per hour), will get reasonably
accurate initial routing information from the node that sent us the
reference that told us about that node in a StoreData message after a
successful request. This should improve routing.
* Build an initial specialization curve from the announcement key for
newly announced nodes. This should result in newly announced nodes
getting requests in the area of the key that the announcement created as
the initial specialization of the node. This should also improve
routing.
* Exponential backoff on nodes that reject queries or timeout. This
should help to fix load balancing and routing.
* Bugfixes, optimizations.
* New diagnostics (failureTableIgnoredDNFs, incomingHopsToLive,
finalHTL, requestFailRNFRatio, routingFailRNFRatio,
routingSuccessRatioNoRNF, rtAddedNode, routingFailedInAWSD), and config
option (defaultToOCMHTMLPeerHandlerMode).
* Significant improvements to the nodestatus page and open connections
page.
