This is probably due to a bug in Java. There are problems with the NIO selector loop easily getting overwhelmed in 1.4.x. There's a workaround in Azureus for this, I think I posted about it a while ago but I don't remember if changes were made. Possibly it was this commit in 2.3.0.2 : "Core | Fix compatibility with JRE 1.4 series under Win32 due to NIO bug" (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/changelog_v2.php) Anyway, try telling them to upgrade to 1.5 (aka Java 5) from www.java.com and that should hopefully fix it.
