Try opening Firefox (ideally in privacy mode) and going to the same page the Freenet launcher opens Google Chrome to by copying and pasting the URL into the address bar. The Freenet launcher is not doing anything special - it is intended as a convenient way to open the main page. It would certainly be helpful to be able to set which browser the launcher uses, but no one has written support for doing that yet.
