Okay, the doubles start with 6787, and with a couple of singles now and then, go to 6802. One set is organizations I keyed last summer, the other is Congress keyed in today. My highest record number is 7628, which was a new member I put in just before I started my troubles on January 8th. I put that person in, then put my attention on another member that had paid dues for the third time in a year. I thought I'd better send these people a statement with their thank you note. Maybe they don't realize they've paid three times. And then my fatal error, after setting up the statement, using the print function from the drop down menu rather than the ebase button. The rest is history. I've been trying to put back together a functioning database ever since. I did use recovery. Quite a few times. On all kinds of folders. When I did get the names to open, sans the source codes and payments, I exported them without the summary data. Just to make sure I had my good names safe. Then I went back to working on the program. But I couldn't recover the source code file or the solicit file or the summary file or whatever one was messed up. I tried them all. Then I gave up and downloaded 103. But I didn't have an updated Filemaker so had to do it runtime. But couldn't get payments and source codes to import and show up there either. Then I just read the other day that you can't import payments properly to 103 without an updated Filemaker. Okay, I saw that several of the fields were grayed out every time I tried. Hmm...okay. Back to 102. I'll go to a zipped file and start a new 102 and reimport my names from the back up I made on January 8th, then my payments from where ever I can get them. That done, and it looked good. I didn't mind losing a little payment data. At least things were mostly back to normal. Now this. I thought it wasn't possible for it to double record numbers! Following my highest number, the one I'd put in just before the crash, is a lower number. 5480. A newspaper from the original import, it's been there from the get go. About a thousand records follow, mounting up to the fatal doubles. I haven't a clue what to do anymore. ------------------ Reminder to each recipient: To change your list account preferences, go to http://email.sparklist.com/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=support and enter the email address you used to subscribe to the ebase support list:: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- ebase - Relationship Management for Nonprofits, http://www.ebase.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------
