Marion,

First of all, see Dave Shaw's excellent advice re: changing the PMT FOR
value list, and don't modify that list unless you really need to.

AS for your other quesions:

Keeping Dave's comments in mind, note that the Payments tab on the
start-up ebase screen is merely a "window" into the payments file. When
you click that tab, you are still in the Names file, but you are on a
layout which provides a portal into the Payments file so you can see
data in that file while you're in the Names file. It's a neat trick but
can be confusing.

Glad to help.

OK, I have a few questions: Where are you doing the query from, the
Query #2 Donor screen? Querying on the <<Mbr Status>> field should give
you a pop-up list of Current, Grace, Lapsed. If it doesn't, there may
be a little problem.

Or are you trying to query on the Home or Payments screens? In this
case, the display of these fields is not set up to give you the pop-up
list. (Keep in mind that you have two aspects of field formats, one
which is the definition of the field (the definition determines how the
field acts) and one which is the display format, or how it displays.
You need to keep track of what it is you want to change. I might add
that you really don't want to mess with the Definitions of fields unless
you know what you're doing.) You COULD change this by going to the
screen in question, going into layout mode, right clicking the field in
question, selecting Field Format, selecting to display as a pop-up field
and selecting the Member Status List as the value list to display in the
pop-up. This would do what you want, but be careful making such a
modification. Be sure you know what this does and how it might affect
your database.

> 4. Documentation.

There are two documents, the User manual and the Admin manual. You
should read and understand both. Errors should be reported to this list
or to any of the TechRocks folks.
