I'm in process of preparing a homegrown mailing/donations list for
transfer to ebase 1.03, and am unsure about certain donations records.
Our organization is an official United Way agency, and UW forwards to
us a list of those who've marked us as preferred recipients of their
donations. However, because UW considers numerous other factors as it
decides its annual allocations, we don't receive an amount equal to
that earmarked by the individual donors. However, we do enter the
donation info as received to keep track of who's thinking kindly of
us by dollar amount.
Likewise, our national umbrella organization sends us regular reports
on donations received from our territory, but the formula used for
how much gets passed our way does not allow for a direct translation
to funds actually received from their office. Nonetheless, we want to
keep track of this data.
Should I just put in distinct "Account Code" numbers for these
donation records, or is there another approach which might be better
for keeping money actually received distinct from funds only
nominally allocated ("shadow" accounts for UW etc, perhaps)?
TIA,
Pierce Butler
