When doing a similar letter (Thank you's for becoming a member) I inserted the merge
field $<<Amount>> from the payments file. But after reading your post I changed that
merge field to <<Names::FIND LAST MBR AMT>>.
It works fine and indicates how much they gave. Then another merge field
(<<Names::FIND LAST MBR EXPIRE DATE>>) to let them know when their membership runs
through.
You could also use, from the names file, (FIND LAST DONOR AMT) depending on wether you
want a donation/contribution amount listed or a membership amount listed.
