I want to have an events check list (when a person in our data base attends an event I want to record it). I thought the customs screen would be a good place for this, but I don't know how to create it.
A better way to record attendance at an event is to post an
Action record. There are several benefits to using Actions to do
this...
- It's open-ended. When next year's event happens, you don't have
to add yet another field. You use the same structure for any number of
events.
- The source code structure is built in, so you can record
attendance at an event as a response to a solicitation, with a source
code, and subsequently analyze the effectiveness of the solicitations
that you sent to get people to the event. Source coding event
invitations and attendance works just like it does for funding
solicitations and payments.
- It's built in, and you don't have to add anything that would
complicate the transfer to version 2 when it's released.
Check the ebase user manual for details on posting an action
record and using source codes.
