>ok everyone, you all have been great and I really appreciate all the help
>you have given me. I have another question. Is it possible to find only PART
>of a field? as in I want to go and replace all the "St." with "Street" but
>obviously all the streetnames arn't the same so I JUST want it to replace
>that one part of teh field. is this possible?

It is possible to search for part of the text in a field using wild
card characters @ (for one character) or * for any number of
characters). For example,
*St.* will find...
Adams St.
Johnson St. NE
St. Martin's Way

It is also possible to replace a string in the middle of a field
using a calculated replace. Look at the text function
Substitute (text, search string, replace string)

A caution, though. As you see above the string St. doesn't always
mean Street. Use this indiscriminately and you will end up with an
address on Street Martin's Way.
