The Action History screen you are probably looking at has only an
abbreviated listing for each action record. From this screen hit the
View Actions button and you will see each action record on a full
screen, including a field for the source code. The concept is that
you create a source code (through the admin screen - more details in
the manuals) for the invitation or advertisement or other
solicitation. Then when you get the RSVP, or attendance list, you
enter the same source code. You can then track how effective your
solicitations were.

First, note that ebase consists of a set of Filemaker data files.
Filemaker can have many files open, but it's VERY risky to have two
ebase file sets available on the same computer. One way would be to
keep each organization's file set on different removable disks, such
as zips.

As you suggest, you really don't want to delete these records because
you lose the history. The most prominent in my mind is that if that
name every comes to you in another list, you don't have a record that
this person shouldn't be on your list. So if someone requests
removal, dies, whatever, you want to be sure they don't get back on
your list.
