Okay, 0.75 installed fine as well to the SCSI HD with the CDROM as a primary master.

My guess that there is a large file or directory being copied right around the 50, 53% completion point and not enough data wasn’t making it between the two buses?

Okay gentlemen, using pfSense-LiveCD-0.74.8 and a single Dell GX110 running the latest BIOS (version A09) with an Adaptec 2940UW adapter and an 18GB Seagate Barracuda drive, I could

1.  Not install to the SCSI HDD when the CDROM was on the secondary bus as a master device.

2.  I could install to the same SCSI HDD when the CDROM was on the primary bus as a master device.

On the same GX110, with the SCSI devices removed, I could

1.        Install to IDE HDD with the CDROM as a slave device on the primary bus.

2.        Not install to IDE HDD with the CDROM as a master on the secondary bus.

So it is evident there is a problem with the installer and the source and target being on two different buses.

I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t need the CDROM access once I get installed.  J.  But it is annoying if you don’t know the workaround.

I did a little digging on the FreeBSD, FreeSBIE and DragonFLY sites and found little or not relavant info, but I did a couple of Googles and found some pertinant info ... seems there is some known issues w/ installing *BSDs w/ the CD in a different IDE channel than the HDD that you are installing to.  There are also lots of hits on disabling the APM (Power Mgmt.) ..... I have tried and tried to get the newest ISO (0.74.6) to work w/ many many different hardware configurations, but to no avail !!!

Naything I can do to contribute to getting this worked out let me know .... I have a couple of test platforms to work w/ and a pretty outfitted lab at my disposl to test in.

I did notice that unless you install fresh from the ISO some of the fixes don't apply correctly .... namely the delete icon on the "IPSec:SPD" page, and also I noticed that the fix for the adding DHCP only fixed itself (linking to the "edit static mapping" page) after up! grading to 0.74.8 today.

GREAT JOB / AWESOME PRODUCT !!!! ....... how can I be of more assistance ???

We are working on this. Everyone please be patient. The installer
is a tricky piece to get right for such a broad range of hardware and
such.
