Hi,

I have loaded the nut package to talk to a APC UPS (via the USB) but
I am finding (suspecting) that a permissions problem on the USB port is
preventing the newhidups daemon from talking to the USB ports.

The nut package does a setuid to a user called "nut" on start-up, this user
is fixed in the package and is written to /usr/local/etc/nut/ups.conf
If I manually change this user in the config file to root, all seems to work
well indicating to me that this is a permissions problem.

I am trying to get the nut package to operate under its correct user, but I
am not having much luck.
I have tried assigning the user to the "operator group", but go.

Has anybody had any experience with this problem or has any suggestions on a
work around (other than running as root) please ?

Many thanks.
Mike.
