I bang the router about quite a bit, so that's not an option.

That's a good thing to know. I think I'll order me the Transcend
SSD, just for laughs.

I run mine from a CF, with noatime in /etc/fstab and no write-intensive 
(squid, etc.) packages. I keep my old WRAP as a hot spare, just in case.
