Hi, First time emailing the list. I have setup PFsense routers before but never creating and access point for wireless connections.
I was having a problem last night setting up a new router with pfsense 1.2.3. I did an HD install, and got the WAN and LAN connections up and running. Everything was good, I installed a linksys 54g card, and than later a Belkin 54g (ath driver ). Both gave me the same problem. I could install the card, and once pfsense booted up i could create the wireless interface and configure it, than I would setup my SSID and my WPA key, setup DHCP for it, and try connecting. sometimes i could even connect to the wireless, I would be giving IP address in the range i put in the DHCP settings, but wouldn't connect to the internet. The problem i was having was though, that for some reason that i couldn't pin point why, as it seemed to happen and different stages each time i tried . I would get a kernel panic error and it would tell me from the shell that in 15 seconds it was going to automatically restart. After restarting it would go all the way through loading to get the point where it is configuring OPT1, and than it was restart the PC again. and it would continue in that loop for forever, loading to configure OPT1 and then restart., only way to get it to stop was to remove the card. Any direction on this would be great, If not I will just go buy a wireless router and that just feels lame. Chris Specs on my router, dell dimension 2400, 2 gigs ram, and a 10 gig HD. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected] Commercial support available - https://portal.pfsense.org
