Hello, I'm able to confirm the error here (KDE trunk build from 4th Jan just after the tagging). Here's the error:
The program 'pidgin' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 3193 error_code 8 request_code 2 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) This error is very annoying, in fact - because pidgin is not the only application to exhibit this problem. Other applications include Xchat, Exaile and even TaskCoach. Xchat is a GTK application, Exaile seems to be using PyGTK and TaskCoach uses WxPython. This kind of problem is exactly the kind of thing plasma would cause (and probably shows a bug in Gtk or even the X server relating to ARGB visuals). For the record, setting XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 does nothing. Not really sure where to file such a bug - but this is probably not pidgin's fault :-) Regards, Vladimir Lushnikov -- Vladimir Lushnikov (Vlad#) http://www.arsfides.com - The Art of Trust
