Can you see any of the pidgin icons at all? That includes the icons in the
pidgin menus, the icons in the status selector, etc.? If you can't then
this is a GTK+ problem as you probably don't have the correct image loader
modules. I would imagine that the pidgin debug window output will say
something useful about this (pidgin -d).
