MSN doesn't support this natively which is Microsoft's fault. Of course, you can use a gateway service, but you'll need to use another client to set it up since Pidgin only supports _using_ Jabber/XMPP transports but not transport _registration_. In addition to that, transports have some drawbacks (security: the gateway can read your (MSN) password and your conversations, reliablity: MSN + the gateway + your Jabber/XMPP service need to work, feature set: gateways will usually only support a subset of the protocol's feature set, usability: You need a MSN account) which are why I neither use Jabber/XMPP transports nor recommend doing this.
I recommend that you use Pidgin's own MSN implementation rather than using a gateway. If you have a Yahoo account, you can talk to MSN users from Yahoo, but this bridge is still having some issues when used with _Pidgin_ (messages get lost in certain circumstances and you can't add buddies through the bridge). -------- Weitergeleitete Nachricht -------- Von: David H. I can't find anything on Google Talk to allow this directly. Or do I need to use a Jabber/MSN gateway of some kind? _______________________________________________ Support mailing list Support@pidgin.im http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support _______________________________________________ Support mailing list Support@pidgin.im http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support
