Pidgin simply doesn't support '@' in the username like that.  There is an
open ticket [1] for this on the Pidgin bugtracker, although I'm not sure
how Spark/Openfire handle it.  Try setting your username to
"Firstname.Lastname\40abc.com" and the Domain to "aaa.com". Does Pidgin
work if you do that?
