Alright, I search this problem a lot in both google as well as this forum but couldn't find any solution.
I am behind a LAN network that connects to the internet through a proxy (which requires username and password). Since the time Yahoo decided to suddenly change its protocols (password authentication program) I have had no luck being able to log onto yahoo through my linux. For some time in between I could log on through an older version using some other pager fields. But even that has not been working since many months. I didnt require much messaging and so I forgot about it and went on to use web messenger. But now I have decided to again work on this problem so that I can once again use pidgin. After I came to realize the yahoo's plans to do modification, I upgraded to the latest (then) pidgin version 2.5.8 and tried to log on again; but with no luck. Later I read in the official news site of pidgin (for version 2.5.8) that those behind proxy cannot login no matter what. My question is : does that still hold? Will I still not be able to log on to yahoo in the latest versions. From my experience, after downloading the latest version 2.6.4, I've had no luck again. I wonder why the proxy fields are given when they are useless? Is there any way to sort this problem out? If not, can anyone please direct me to some other messenger for linux through which I will be able to chat on yahoo. Thank you. -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/Unable-to-log-on-to-Yahoo-behind-a-proxy.-tp27002365p27002365.html Sent from the Pidgin Support List mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe?
