Ten bucks says this covers it:
On the advanced tab of your AIM/ICQ account's settings, uncheck 'Use
clientLogin'. This is posted on the main page at http://www.pidgin.im as
well.
Everyone else and their brother (and sisters, mothers, fathers,
cousins...etc) have hit the list with this problem.
