I have a libpurple client without a UI and would like to be prompted another way.

Do you mean an untrusted certificate or do you mean a trusted certificate signed by an untrusted CA, or itself?

I believe you can install a non-root certificate as trusted with OpenSSL or GnuTLS, although I'm not certain and I don't know what Pidgin uses on Windows.

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.
