In general, you do not unsubscribe to a list by sending a message to
the list. That just tends to irritate everyone on the list. It
certainly irritated me, and I have had to work hard at suppressing
several snide comments about Oracle.

You probably need to reinstall SIPE after upgrading Pidgin.
