Why? You know where the Pidgin web site is, and the person posting the
announcement has no idea which platform you are using and hence which
file(s) you actually need.

However, when I could find about pidgin and had downloaded and
installed it and have been using it, BECAUSE IT IS VERY USEFUL, I will
be able to find the site again, and again.
still, giving a link for download page is a custom.
