The font is specified as a style on the GtkIMHtml widget, which means it can be overridden in a gtkrc file. If you're using a custom theme or you've changed your gtkrc file then it might be different for you. The style name is "typing-notification-font." It defaults to "light 8.0," and I'm not really sure what that means.
