Which service are you trying to connect to? If it is not one of the well known public services, which IM protocol does it use?
By "internet...proxy server" to you mean an HTTP proxy? Generally IM servers use an HTTP proxy as a last resort to get round a firewall. That would imply that you are trying to access them from a corporate LAN, in which case the best person to ask is the local IT manager.
Failing that, the Pidgin debug log may give a clue as to exactly where things are going wrong.
Also, you should also always indicate the platform (likely to be Windows Vista or 7, if not identified) and the Pidgin version, when asking for support on Pidgin.

RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam, that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work. _______________________________________________ [email protected] mailing list Want to unsubscribe?
