Meredith, Are you able to close pidgin at all? I've had a similar situation now for a week, and due to this issue ended up uninstalling the software and moving forward with Adium.
Given the amount of people complaining about this type of behavior, I'm wondering if the devs would now take our findings a bit more serious... --Russ -------- Original message -------- From: [email protected] Date:11/12/2014 5:26 PM (GMT-05:00) To: [email protected] Subject: Support Digest, Vol 87, Issue 17 Send Support mailing list submissions to [email protected] To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit https://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [email protected] You can reach the person managing the list at [email protected] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of Support digest..." Pidgin is not a system. You are using Pidgin, which is a software package, to connect to some system. You need to ask the maintainers of that system. We are all using MSN accounts and no one had any problems on Monday. We were closed yesterday. We are not experiencing any other internet issues and we have not made any changes to our routers. We just see "Available-connecting" at the bottom of our Buddy list window. Is there an issue with MSN accounts at this time? We were closed Whilst Microsoft may have changed something recently, that has broken it this time, you shouldn't be using Pidgin to access MSN for any mission critical purpose as it has always been against Microsoft's terms of service to access it using Pidgin. For many months now, any use of MSN, even with the official client, is at your own risk as support was withdrawn in favour of Skype, and, in principle, Microsoft could pull the plug finally without any warning. > yesterday. No, it is not Pidgin per se, and Pidgin is not the "carrier, but does anyone know of changes that MSFT might have made? If I recall a few years ago MSFT made some changes and for a period of time you could not use any of the accounts using the Pidgin application - there were some incompatibilities.
