I see that Slack is dropping support for XMPP (and IRC) on May 15.

Yes, OTR works with any protocol as it's a layer on top of any existing text message.

Hi Matt,

You could try the Slack plugin which probably does presence a lot better than XMPP/IRC gateways :)

We're using Slack via xmpp.  I'm first in office, as people come in, their status does not change.
