Hi Phil, Have you tried using the Message Notification plugin that ships with Pidgin? (Tools->Plugins->Message Notification) It has the option to 'flash window' and 'remove when conversation window gains focus' which for me on Win10 keeps the taskbar displaying with a yellow/orange background.
