HSBC's Calls The Jakarta Post, Thursday, 02/26/2009
I've been living in my present house in Surabaya for over a year and ever since I moved here, I have been getting phone calls from HSBC asking for one of the previous occupants. They were informed politely that the said person no longer lived here and they were even given a phone number to contact him. This did not deter them, as they have continued to call on a daily basis (including Sundays) asking for the same person. Needless to say, my answers are no longer polite, and I have begun to ask them for their telephone number and name, which they always refuse to give (in fact, they usually hang up rudely when asked for their name). It is just another way in which the banks have stopped being service institutions and become bullies. I am at my wit's end and I do not know where to turn to get these calls to stop, short of changing telephone numbers.
