Hi all,
I am recently in charge of building a immersive media room at
the Kunst Uni in Linz (Austria) and just after only one week of work I
am quite happy with the results obtained using a combination of
Pd(iem_ambi_encode 3rd order)+jconvolver+ambdec on an Ubuntu(12.04)connected to
a RME Fireface800 (using ffado).

(thanks to the online recommendations by J. Nettingsmeierand F. Adriaensen)

I
have 16 near field monitors plus a couple of subwoofers. The room is a
cube of 120m2 plant. Around 30-40 people should be the maximum audience .

But my questions are about ambdec presets:

- After testing
almost all compatible presets, I found that a good candidate is the dual
octagon 3rd order horizontal - 1st order vertical, but I would prefer
having better possibilities of vertical localization of audio, with for
example 3 rings of speakers with the bottom rig at audience´s height .
But that would lead me to an irregular layout.

Is there any possibility of using irregular layouts of speakers with ambdec?
e.g. using hemispheres...

- If not, what do you think would be my best candidate from your practical
experience?

- BTW there is always a header at every .ambdec file (maybe only to Fons):
# AmbDec configuration
# Written by Makedec-0.8.0
Is it something like a layout designer? Is available?

Thanks and all suggestions are welcome, I think this is quite a interesting
topic for ambdec users like me.

Enrique
