For the next week or two, BBC Radio 3 is broadcasting the evening concerts live from the South Bank's "Pull out all the Stops" festival, and as far as I can make out, the intention is to stream all of these in 4.0, using HTML5 with AAC-LC codec at 320kb/s. The concerts all begin at 19:30 GMT (summer time does not begin in Europe until the last weekend of March), which currently equates to 3:30 pm in New York -- 05:30 am in Cooktown!. :)

Tonight's concert is the first on the newly-restored Festival Hall organ.

The order of channels is

1 Left front
2 Right front
3 Center [not used for these experiments]
4 Bass (LFE) [not used for these experiements]
5 Left rear
6 right rear

There has been a lot of discussion here about media and file formats for the interchange of sursound. Even though browser implementation is currently limited, it seems to me that HTML5 is probably the best solution to date for distribution. Please dont complain that it isnt HOA; 4.0 is an excellent start (at least we dont have to deal with horrible 5.1!) and a chance to create greater awareness and interest in high quality surround sound.

David
