Dave will be very much missed.

My gateway drug into Ambisonics was Dave's and Tony Myatt's 3-D Sound
Spatialization using Ambisonic Techniques [1]. The included example Csound
<https://csound.com/> code got me started on the path.

I was studying at the University of Birmingham at the time. Dave invited me
to visit him in York, where he assisted in making my first Ambisonic
recordings with York's ST-250 Soundfield mic, recording onto an ADAT. (You
can hear Dave's voice appear in Kyai Pranaja
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT5jqqRsxd4>, which is where those
recordings were used.) As well as pointing me to various reference papers,
he also very kindly allowed me to review his collection of unpublished
notes.

(Because I was in Birmingham, Dave also suggested I meet Mark Decker
<https://www.theguardian.com/media/2005/oct/28/obituaries.broadcasting>,
who worked at BBC Pebble Mill Studios
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pebble_Mill_Studios>—producing work in UHJ.)

Dave introduced me to the world of Ambisonics and the people in that
world....
