The 8th Conference on AI Music Creativity will take place in Montréal, Canada,
from 18 to 20 August 2027, at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Music and
CIRMMT (McGill University). The call for papers, music, and workshop & tutorial
proposals opens on 9 November 2026.

Theme: At the Limits of Immersion

As AI-driven systems increasingly shape musical creation, questions emerge not
only about their possibilities, but also about the limits of immersion. AIMC
2027 invites reflection on the perceptual, cognitive, technical and material
boundaries encountered as immersive systems grow in scale and complexity.
Rather than framing limits as constraints, the conference proposes them as
generative sites where scientific inquiry, engineering practice, artistic
creation and critical reflection meet.

------- Call for Hosting AIMC 2028 -------

The AIMC Steering Committee invites bids from institutions interested in
hosting AIMC 2028, the 9th Conference on AI Music Creativity.

Bid deadline: 1 December 2026
Send your proposal as a single PDF to [email protected].

AIMC brings together researchers and artists interested in the computational
emulation of musical creativity and its use for music creation. It is a
medium-sized, interdisciplinary conference, intended to remain accessible and
affordable for both organisers and participants.

What hosting involves
- A 3-5 day programme with single-track paper sessions, at least two keynotes,
an artistic programme with performances, and tutorials
- An organising committee with, at minimum, a conference chair, a scientific
chair, an artistic chair and a tutorials chair
- A budget aiming for financial break-even, including proposed registration
fees and a sponsorship plan
- A single-blind, two-tier review process with three reviews per paper, and
proceedings archived on Zenodo

The guidelines document details the requirements, evaluation criteria and
proposal format. Prospective organisers are encouraged to contact the Steering
Committee ahead of time.
